Who makes Smalt

Smalt is made by its independent developer. Contact: feedback@getsmalt.com.

Price

Smalt is offered free of charge. It is new software: it can have bugs and can change between versions. You can use it on every Mac you personally own or use.

What Smalt does and doesn't do

Smalt runs on your Mac. It needs Apple Silicon and macOS 14.4 or later. Speech recognition is automatic and makes mistakes; check anything important before you rely on it. Meeting summaries and live answers are generated by AI models and can be wrong.

You are responsible for following the law where you use Smalt, including telling people on a call that it is being transcribed when the law asks you to.

Your data

Smalt has no account and keeps your audio, transcripts and notes on your Mac. Optional features that use your own API keys send text to the provider you choose, under that provider's terms. The details are in Privacy.

Warranty and liability

Smalt is provided free of charge and as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damages or lost data. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer under the law of your country.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one in force on the day you use Smalt.
