Smalt Docs
Talk to Claude Code and hear it answer, dictate into any app, and take notes of your calls. Speech is recognized on your Mac.
- Get startedSmalt is the voice assistant for developers working with AI agents. You talk to Claude Code, it works, and you hear the answer. It also types what you say into any app and takes notes of your calls. It takes about five minutes to set up. Tick each step as you go.
- DictationHold a key, talk, let go: your words appear wherever you're typing. It works in any app, and your voice never leaves your Mac.
- Meeting notesSmalt writes down your calls, you and the others, as they happen. When the call ends, you get a summary with the decisions and action items, saved as a file on your Mac.
- Live answersWhile Smalt takes your meeting notes, it can also answer questions people ask, from your own files, right under the question above the pill. Off by default: Settings → Meetings → Live answers (the same choice is on Settings → Cloud). Asking with the ask key and talking with Claude Code are the voice assistant, a separate feature (Settings → Voice Assistant).
- PrivacySmalt was built to never need a server. Your voice is turned into text by a speech model on your Mac, then thrown away.
- HelpSettings → General → All checks shows everything Smalt needs, checked again every second, each with its fix. Start there.
